Gould begins the article by defining science. It is stated that science allows human beings to know and gain knowledge. To illustrate the difference between real science and pseudoscience Gould presents the question of how the extinction of dinosaurs occurred. The first proposal that individuals have developed is the sex hypothesis. This proposal states that dinosaurs became extinct because testes can only function in certain temperatures. Therefore, when the global temperature increased during the Cretaceous period dinosaurs testes stopped working and became sterile. It says that flowering plants developed close to when the dinosaurs died.
The first theory suggests that the dinosaurs became extinct due to a rise in the temperature leading to the sterilization of male dinosaurs. The second hypothesis proposes that many dinosaurs consumed bitter plants that contained psychoactive agents and their livers could not detoxify them. This dust cloud blocked out the sunlight, causing temperatures to drop drastically and made photosynthesis impossible. Science is about how the hypothesis is developed and how well it is defended. The conclusions are the consequence, not the essence. The body portion about the three theories is pretty much an example to prove his point, much like the body in major paper one was used to support a thesis or a claim.

Today, Nevada stands as the eighth state that enforces background checks on gun sales or transfers, through the work of Michael Bloomberg. This essay is one of more than a hundred articles on evolution, zoology, and paleontology published by Gould in national magazines and journals.
There are three ideas to explain the extinction of dinosaurs, which are also involved in our society today and they are sex, drugs and violence. The theory of sex is that it had to be at a cool temperature for the male to mate successfully, if the temperature was to hot then the males would become infertile. Which around the time of the dinosaurs extinction the worlds temperature had increased and could of caused the dinosaurs to not have any offspring and all died off after time. Another way dinosaurs became extinct is of flowering plants with deadly toxins. Dinosaurs had no sense of taste and could not taste the bitterness of these plants, which is why mammals today avoid these toxic plants because of their ability to taste. As for the dinosaurs there livers could not filter the toxins and died of massive overdoses from these flowering plants.
