Its season finale airs next week. For the most, part Chen smiled broadly during the video and choked up a little only one time, when she was thanking the behind-the-scenes crew of the show. Afterwards, there were only a few minutes for co-host Sara Gilbert, looking sad, to thank Chen for "all you did to contribute to the success of this show. And to all of you, we will see you tomorrow. Chen, 48, who has been with the show since its inception, alongside original co-hosts Gilbert and Sharon Osbourne, was a no-show for the daytime show's season premiere Sept. She said at the time she was taking "a few days off" to be with her family, but reappeared only on Thursday's episode of the CBS reality series "Big Brother.
Chen thanked her fellow co-hosts, as well as the entire team behind the CBS show. Most important, I want to thank you, the viewers, for allowing me into your home every day. It was a privilege that I will forever be grateful for. After the clip aired, co-host Sara Gilbert expressed solidarity with Chen. All of us here have tremendous appreciation for the dedication and passion she brought to the show every day and for her generous role as an ambassador for CBS Daytime.
Julie Chen officially parted ways with The Talk on Tuesday, little more than one week after husband Les Moonves was fired from CBS in the wake of sexual harassment allegations. But right now, I need to spend more time at home with my husband and our young son. I want to thank everyone at the show for the wonderful years together. I will always, always cherish the memories we shared. Most important, I want to thank you, the viewers, for allowing me into your home every day.
In a video message that aired on Tuesday's edition of "The Talk," which is on CBS, Chen told viewers that she is leaving the show for familial reasons. Sources told CNN on Monday that Chen would be leaving the show, with one of the sources saying that she "has decided that her main focus needs to be clearing her husband's name from accusations made years ago and tending to her son. But her status on "The Talk" has been in doubt ever since Moonves' departure. Before Tuesday, Chen had not appeared on the current season of "The Talk" since it premiered last week. Chen has been with the program since it debuted. In her farewell message, Chen thanked viewers and personnel who worked behind the scenes on the show, at one point fighting back tears.
