On Nov. It was last seen in reruns a decade ago, its third season never appeared on DVD, and it has yet to appear on any streaming service. So why has every recent reunion of the cast of "The Adventures of Pete and Pete" turned into a sold-out, rapturously received event? It can't be just because both leads are redheads though that cannot be discounted as a factor. Thanks to nostalgia and a stellar reputation that's still spreading via word of mouth, the fan base of "The Adventures of Pete and Pete," a goofy, heartwarming and surreal show about two red-headed brothers and their lovably strange world, shows no signs of going away. In the last two years, the cast has reunited several times for various celebrations of the show in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Portland, Ore. According to Viscardi and co-creator William McRobb, those events have gotten somewhat more ambitious along the way: They've evolved from panel discussions into full-blown celebrations that include the reading of key scenes from the show and the reunion of younger Pete's band, the Blowholes.
The age of Pete lives on in this compilation of 8 super-short Pete & Pete shorts! Get fit with Artie, the strongest man in the world, and survive a soundproof burping room, unusual forms of punishment, and summer jobs! Still glad I bought it - I will probably watch again to see.

For kids raised largely by television in the s, Nickelodeon was everything. It was the one network on TV that felt like it was made for us and no one else. About creating a sense of belonging for the kids who were watching. Looking back on it, it was a pretty insidious marketing tactic, but it worked. They took fairly mundane events in the life of a kid and blew them out to extreme proportions. They captured how it felt to be a kid. These little moments that would normally go unremarked on are of great importance to the kids experiencing them.
It had a release date, McRobb and Viscardi have said the discs were packaged and ready to go , then… poof. How can we make that happen? Granted, copyright laws are important for making sure that artists are fairly compensated for their work, but the contracts of old are such a headache now that nobody, not the musicians, actors, writers, producers or rights holders for the show, are seeing any benefit from a rerelease. Especially with television, home releases are pretty much the only guaranteed, accessible form of preservation we have. Sure, an altered cut of the show with music removed would be better than nothing, I suppose, but that might not even be cost-effective or possible depending on what Nickelodeon has in its archives.
