Suleiman Musa has said. Suleiman made the disclosure while receiving the Sudan minister of higher education, professor Mubarak Muhammad Ali Majoob in his office. He explained that plans are geared up by the college to affiliate with the Sudan University for the successful take off of the programme. Suleiman said already a diploma programme in Qur'anic science has been introduced by the college 3 years back and hundreds of people have graduated though the course. He therefore noted that if the programme is successfully introduced, people in Nigeria will start graduating from the college with Sudan university degree certificates without going to Sudan republic. The academic staff of the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies yesterday downed their tools over what they described as lack of confidence on the leadership of the college. Speaking to pressmen yesterday, the publicity secretary of academic staff union of the college, Malam Muhris-Deen Ibra-him Liman Dauda Kuraku, accused the leadership of the college of not being fair to some members of the union. Malam Muhris-Deen said that apart from being selective in the discharge of its duty, the authority also refused to implement the law been passed by the state Assembly and accented by the governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, to enable the college to become autonomous. He added that the academic staff of the college are in confusion and therefore called on the state governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, to come to their aid. He pointed out that there was a time the union discovered a fake registration receipt amounting to thousands of naira and it forwarded the case to the sch ool authority but in the process of investigation, the person involved was allowed to escape. The publicity secretary also said that in another incident, some facilities including AC, satellite dish and television were removed from the staff room of the college and the person responsible was caught but he was later released by the college authority for reason best known to them. This is basically a college which was established in with 12 students. Now it has over 20, students in various departments. It was initially established to provide middle level manpower for area courts, court registrars and other positions in the court. Until later when the community realised the need for other professional courses in the college curriculum and the law establishing it was reviewed to include teacher education. It was Offering Teacher Education at the diploma leveland when I eventually came on board, it was still offering courses at the diploma level.
