The term "Hemi" engine was trademarked by the Chrysler Corporation in ; however, the concept and same technology is used by other companies under different names. The Hemi engine was an internal combustion engine designed by Chrysler that utilized a hemispherical combustion chamber. This allowed the valves to be in-line rather than side-by-side, which resulted in a simpler airflow and larger valves. This powerful engine found use in the XP aircraft where it generated a maximum power of 2, to 3, horsepower. It was also used in experimental tanks. It became popular when it won the first three places in the Daytona auto race. The modern Hemi differed greatly from the original Hemi, with only the perpendicular valve arrangement remaining.

I have had too many problems with this truck to list but now I have a major problem. Got the truck back from the dealer after the last repair and parked it. Went out and started it about a week later and a very loud and noise started banging and popping from the left side of engine. Shut it down and restarted it, same thing. I just let it rattle and bang but the warmer the engine got the quieter it got.
I was wondering if anyone other than me absolutely hates the MDS system in their Hemi engines. Does anyone know how to disable it without having to by a Diablo Predator tuner? I know you can cut and cap the wire, but then the check engine light will stay on. Does anyone have any solutions for me? Chase answered 9 years ago.

That power plant was fraught with problems—getting stuck in one mode or another led many owners to demand the system be disconnected, and even today die-hard Cadillac fans see it as a black mark on an otherwise fine marque.
