Hannah gives birth and struggles to breastfeed her son. There, we saw the titular girls gathered in a bathroom, fighting it out one last time. There, they all ended up dancing, joyful and carefree and together. Later, Hannah moved to upstate New York, away from them but content in her new life. It was lovely, the kind of episode that makes you feel warm and sad and hopeful and scared all at once. It starts with Hannah waking up to Marnie spooning her.
Amber Dowling. The moms out there inevitably related with the brutal frustrating of attempting to breastfeed, the pressures new moms face to get everything right and the utter feelings of loneliness that can often accompany such a new bundle of joy. Those same viewers probably felt a bit of anger towards Hannah when she just left Grover with Marnie and her mother for extended periods of time, ignoring her responsibilities as a mom. In the end it had to be Hannah and Marnie who were left standing, given the way things were left with Jessa and Shoshanna. It was actually really fitting that Marnie sucked up all of her narcissistic problems and moved in with Hannah to help with the babe, essentially putting her best friend first during the biggest adjustment period of her life. But for a show that started out examining female friendships, Hannah and Marnie playing house was kind of a nice picture to end the series on. The quirky teen running away from her mother and freaking out when she was told to do her homework was a weird little twist, but one that had to happen in order for Hannah to get a little perspective.
Lena Dunham 's " Girls " aired its first episode just a little over five years ago, on April 15, Sixty-two episodes later, the show aired its final episode, "Latching. The finale of "Girls" was no exception; it's one of the show's strongest if idiosyncratic episodes. At the start of "Latching" I wondered how "Girls" would approach the pregnancy. Hannah Dunham had moved to upstate New York at the end of the penultimate episode. The show had already ended its stories for Elijah Andrew Rannells , who got his own episode and a chance at success, and for Adam Adam Driver and Ray Alex Karpovsky , who solidified or initiated new romantic relationships. Last week's "Goodbye Tour" was the end of the line for Hannah's female friends.

HBO's Girls aired its 62nd and final episode last night, the closing shot seeing Hannah look straight ahead as her son finally breastfed. On executive producer Judd Apatow's suggestion, the show's penultimate episode was essentially its traditional finale, wrapping up the four girls' stories and having them all meet up, while the finale was slower paced and more offbeat, with co-showrunner Jenni Konner describing it as "the spinoff that will never be". The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Konner and Lena, who discussed the episode's key moments and outlined how they imagine their characters' futures looking. On the scene in which Hannah scolds a teen she finds crying about not being able to see her boyfriend because her parents want her to do her homework Konner: Well, you know, the opening scene of the show ever is her being with her parents, being bratty, getting cut off, asking why she needs money, being the ultimate child not ready to grow up, so I think it was just this idea to show in a very Hannah way a final maturation.
