Robert Downey Jr. Sign in. See the list. The Royal Court of Fillory prepares for Eliot's nuptials as he endeavors to win over the Fillorians with the extravagant event. Penny begins his contractual obligations to the Neitherlands Library as Kady searches for any information about god killing.
Remember how we learned that all of our characters have actually lived in 39 different time loops set in motion by Jane Chatwin? Meanwhile, in Fillory, Quentin is drinking his sorrows about Alice's death, and Margo is having none of it. She sends him to Earth on an errand for Eliot's wedding to King Idri. Earth is pretty complicated itself - Kady still has to deal with Reynard and Penny wants to help her, but his job with the Order seems to have just started. He and Kady end up back in front of the Librarian, who's got some tasks for him. Also on Earth, Josh has been making magical drug edibles, and Quentin is tasked with fetching him to cater Eliot's wedding. However, before they go back to Fillory, Quentin goes on a drug trip of his own.
A group of twentysomethings studying magic in New York discover a real-life fantasy world that poses a great threat to humanity in this drama adapted from Lev Grossman's book series. Quentin helps Julia with her search; Eliot endeavors to win over his people, as Margo tries to keep a devastating secret; Penny and Kady are caught between two magical factions. Most of us have tormented ourselves with the notion of what might have been from time to time, but for Quentin in Season 2, this particular temptation has been a near constant. Moreover, what was the point of sending Quentin to Fillory only to send him off on a new quest? While this episode shows a nice sense of the show expanding its scope as it heads into the final stretch of the season, there are some odd workarounds to setting everyone on the right path. But those new paths are all showing good signs, even, a little bit, the folks over in sigh Fillory. Although this hint of optimism will be rescinded if Margo does not actually get to go on a quest to save the day. Penny is not tagging along with Kady just because he loves her. The elimination of Reynard should be a goal for everyone, not just the people Reynard has personally harmed.
Once again, as the various storylines cross over, these details help bind the overall arc into a solid whole. It also served as a reminder that those other 39 iterations happened so that Quentin could speak to a different Alice about shades. The Tesla flexion gave us one of the most emotional scenes in a crowded field of great dialogues between Quentin and Alice. Jason Ralph and Olivia Taylor Dudley nailed the scene. Kudos to Stella Maeve for being able to play a tortured soul, an emotionless manipulator, and a cold but understanding participant equally well. Not only that, but Josh earns nymph-shaving rights and possibly the affections of Margo by uncovering and foiling a plot by the FU-fighters albeit a tad too easily.

"The Girl Who Told Time"
Mar Over in Fillory, Eliot is busy with his wedding preparations, while Q is wallowing, drinking wine. Learning that Fogg has released Julia, Jade sets off to continue dealing with Reynard, with the help of Penny. They are pulled off on a tangent however, by the Librarians, who have processed his application and expect him to start work. Eliot has also sent Q to Brakebills to get Josh Trevor Einhorn to help with the wedding preparations. Returning to Fillory, Q explains to Eliot that he needs to go back to help Julia, and Eliot comforts him, but says he has to return for the wedding! When she still looks disturbed, we discover this is due to her seeing faeries following her, although she tells Eliot she is experiencing morning sickness.
Welcome back, High Kings and Queens! Margo and Fen kept seeing fairies meandering about the castle that nobody else noticed. Also, Penny must report for library duty. Anyway, strap in, Fillorians not like that, you gutter dwellers. Spoilers are like fairies sometimes — invisible to the naked eye, so please be cautious. Remember when Jane Chatwin forged a time loop and Julia ended up at Brakebills 39 times?
